This District 5190  Grant  # DG2223062 was initiated to provide financial and volunteer support to two NGOs [Non-government organizations] that are currently aiding Afghan  individuals and families that are in hiding following the collapse of their government last summer, 2021.  These supported individuals assisted in moving the international agenda to build a more stable Afghanistan and are now facing retribution from the Taliban as a result of their past partnership with the US.
Alta Sierra School Garden Project- The school garden is designed to introduce kids to gardening and healthy eating. Kids are in the garden each week planting, harvesting and being educated about agriculture. This project primarily focuses on one of Rotary's areas of focus- basic education and literacy. The garden will teach children how to plant, grow and care for items from the garden and worm farm. This is a great place for students and Rotarians to continue their weekly reading program during the warmer months.
